Maybe the best paper writing advice I've ever heard. If your paper is size 12 font make sure all of your comas are font size 13. The build up of these size 13 comas will increase your paper by at least a page in the long run. You will notice!
I'd just like to point out that I was caught doing this once. It made the spacing look more than double spaced, so my professor actually measured it compared to another students. Since then I decided handing in a shorter assignment is better than handing in one that "cheats the system."
