Why are we so fat? (The answer shouldn't shock you)
We are so fucking fat. Just thought I would put that out there immediately before I get into this but its a harsh reality. According to a study conducted by Forbes in 2007, 74.1% of our population is
overweight. If you didn't get that through your head the minority of people in our country are healthy. What's even more astounding is that 1/3 of Americans in their spare time exercise. So let me spell this out for you and you tell me what our deal is, we are exercising more and getting fatter at the same time! WHAT THE FUCK. But when you really start to break it down it all becomes extremely clear. Besides the fact that most of us have terrible diets and eat more than we should, there is an astute underlying reason. The amount you eat could be worked off with daily training and an active lifestyle so I won't put the "total" blame on food (half the blame I'll say). Think about what you do the majority of the day. There is one activity (should call it inactivity) that we as Americans do everywhere more than anything. Have you figured it out yet? Do you work or go to school? What does your morning commute consist of? When you drive to your destination, what are you doing? When your in class or your desk what are you doing? I'll tell you what you do, we are SITTING WAY TO MUCH. We sit more than we think and if that is really a surprise to you it shouldn't be at all. Our ever increasing sedentary lifestyle is a result of our society becoming increasingly technology dependant like never before. Even when some of us claim to "exercise" most people's workouts consist of only benching and other conventional exercises in which you are sitting the whole time! Obesity rates can be directly correlated to the contemporary lifestyle of the average American. Think about life in the 1800's or even up until the mid 1900's. Working all day in a job that required physical labor, life without a reliable vehicle or your Blackberry. There was once a time where we needed to walk to a store to get what we wanted. I can honestly say I can get everything I need done in a week on my Macbook by making a few e-mails and looking up a few facts from wikipedia. Any body ever see "Wall-e"? That is going to be us if we do not realize this now. We are not going to evolve as a species because we don't ever need to be physically adaptable to anything anymore. We are doomed to be fat, tech-savy blobs of carbon if we don't move when we have the opportunity to do so. Make improvements in your life by not sitting when not needed. Change up your workouts with out-door running and exercise, walk to your class instead of driving there you lazy fucks. Go to a store instead of online shopping. A build up subtle changes will increase your chances of not being apart of the lethargic masses that eat their quarter pounders with cheese and bitch about their day to day stresses. I leave you with this.... no deer are fat.
